Meet Jono- Volvo Cars Gold Coast Sales Manager
As the Sales Manager at Volvo Cars Gold Coast, can you tell us a little about your role and what a typical day looks like for you?
While I am responsible for the operation of the Sales department, that ultimately means I am part of ensuring all our customers – existing or potential – have a welcome, enjoyable and informative experience with us every time. I would love to outline a “typical” day but every day is its own and that’s part of why I love the job.
When did your journey with Volvo begin and what first attracted you to the brand?
I began in Perth in 2004, after graduating from Uni I wanted to go into marketing but struggled to pass interviews without sales experience. I loved cars, so that seemed like a good way to improve my CV. I actually got a job at BMW and Volvo on the same day and chose Volvo because I knew less about them and only planned to be there 6 months… here I am nearly 22 years later, which says a lot to me about our cars and the brand.
Volvo is known for its safety, design and innovation, what do you think makes Volvo stand out most to customers today?
Without question, Volvo’s strengths and point of difference has been the same since they incorporated – that humancentric approach ensures safety is their first priority and the impact on our environment is equally imperative. It feels like those core values have become far more valued through wider society over the past 20 years and as such Volvo has stood tall among its piers.
What’s one Volvo feature that really impresses customers when they see it for the first time?
Our integrated booster seats in the XC60 and XC90 always impress, even if customers have already raised their family and wouldn’t use them they often comment on what a great feature they are, wishing they had them in their car when they had smaller kids.
What do you enjoy most about helping customers find the right Volvo for them?
We are problem solvers to some degree, so when people take ownership of their Volvo I’m always confident it will over-deliver on my promises. Staying in touch and hearing how much they love the new car is the most rewarding part.
Living on the Gold Coast, where would be your favourite place to take a Volvo for a weekend drive?
I recently noticed Matso’s have opened on the Sunshine Coast, I went to school in Perth with the family who own it (and love their products) so I think my next road trip needs to head up there. We own an XC90 currently and have travelled extensively through SE QLD as a family in it since moving here. Honestly, I can’t think of anything much better to do it in.
